Young Asian Biotechnologist Prize

This award stimulates research and honors outstanding accomplishments in the field of biotechnology by young scientists in Asia other than Japan.

DaSilva Award

This award is designed to honor a young Asian researcher who shows promise of outstanding achievements in the field of microbial biotechnology in the near future.

This award was established through a donation by the late Professor Edgar J. DaSilva, Former Director of the Division of Life Sciences at UNESCO, Paris.

Excellent Paper Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan

This award recognizes excellent papers published in “Seibutsu-kogaku Kaishi” or the Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, which have prominently contributed to the progress of biotechnology.

Awards for SBJ Members

SBJ has Society Member Recognition Awards that are awarded to members. SBJ active members are eligible to nominate a candidate.

    This award recognizes a member who has made outstanding contributions in biotechnology. 
     
  • Achievement Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan
    This prize is awarded to a member for his/her significant academic and technical research in the field of biotechnology. 
     
  • Meritorious Service Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan
    The intent of this award is to recognize a member who has supported SBJ’s activities for promotion of research and development in biotechnology.
     
  • Encouragement Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan (Eda Award)
    This award is designed to encourage a member in the early stages of his/her career who has made major contributions to the theory or technology regarding brewing, such as refining sake, etc.   
     
  • Encouragement Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan (Saito Award)
    This award is designated to encourage an SBJ member in the early stages of his/her career who has made outstanding contributions to basic studies in the field of biotechnology.
     
  • Encouragement Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan (Terui Award)
    This award is designated to encourage an SBJ member in the early stages of his/her career who has made significant contributions to progress in the field of biochemical engineering.
     
  • Technical Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan
    This award recognizes outstanding contributions to industrial research and development in the field of biotechnology. 
     
  • Young Scientist Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan
    The award recognizes young scientists active in the field of biotechnology.
     
  • Excellent Student Award of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan
    This award is given to students who show promise for significant future achievements during doctoral research. Candidates must be enrolled students in the master course of graduate schools or those who have academic qualification equivalent to the master degree.
     

Awards may include the following:

  • Certificate of recognition and/or plaque
  • Recognition at the award ceremony at SBJ Annual Meeting
  • Special presentation opportunities (optional)
  • Complimentary registration for SBJ Annual Meeting (optional)
