Greetings from the 90th Anniversary Committee
Welcome to the 90th Anniversary Meeting
The 90th Anniversary Meeting of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan (SBJ) will be held at the Kobe International Conference Center (KICC), Kobe Port Island, from October 23rd (Tue) to 26th (Fri), 2012. To commemorate the 90th anniversary with wide range of participants, we set up the conference concepts as “from academia to industry”, “from Japan to the world”, and “from senior to junior”.
At the opening day (October 23rd), the commemorative ceremony for the 90th anniversary will be held on the morning, followed by award presentation ceremony on the afternoon at the Main Hall of KICC. The celebration dinner will be held at Kobe Portopia Hotel in the evening of October 23rd. From October 24th to 26th, symposia, general sessions, and luncheon seminars will be held at the KICC conference rooms, and technical exhibitions, including SBJ commemoration displays, will be convened at the Reception Hall of KICC.
A third of the symposia will be organized as international sessions (all presentations and discussions are given in English) on Biotechnology for Green Growth. Topics will be chosen for the symposia based on the proposals from SBJ members. Participants are encouraged to submit by January 18th, 2012 symposium topics suited to the above-mentioned concepts. We are also preparing general sessions for oral presentations of more than 600 during the conference. Active participation of young members will be very much welcomed.
KICC and Kobe Portopia Hotel are both located in the Kobe Convention Complex which is central to Port Island. Many restaurants, fashion towns, parks, and museums are scattered around the city of convention, culture, and leisure (http://www.kobe-convention.jp/english/aisatu/miryoku.html). The four-day long conference is an excellent opportunity for you to meet with SBJ members and colleagues from abroad. We hope to welcome you at Kobe in October 2012 for an unforgettable experience that will be remembered for years to come.
